For Memberful sites and podcasts with paid members
Recover failed Memberful payments automatically
Memberful processes every membership charge through your own Stripe account. Creator Dunning connects to it and emails members in your name when a renewal fails, with follow-ups every three days for a month.
What Memberful does today
Memberful sends a basic failed-payment notice and then depends on Stripe's retry schedule. Members with a replaced or expired card need a human-sounding reminder with a direct link, which is exactly what we send.
How Creator Dunning connects
Memberful is built on your Stripe account, so a single OAuth authorization from your Stripe dashboard is all that's needed. Your Memberful plans, downloads and integrations are unaffected.
Common questions
- Will this conflict with Memberful's failed-payment email?
- You can leave Memberful's notice on for the first failure and let Creator Dunning handle the follow-ups, or turn it off so members only hear from you.
- Does it work for podcast and Discord memberships?
- Yes. If the membership is billed through Memberful and Stripe, it's covered regardless of what the member gets access to.
- What happens when a member pays?
- Stripe tells us the invoice was paid and reminders stop within seconds. The recovery shows up in your dashboard.
Roughly one in ten renewals fails. Most are fixable.
Industry data puts involuntary churn at 20–40% of all subscription churn, and Stripe's default retries recover only 25–35% of failed consumer payments. A timely, personal email closes most of that gap. See the numbers and sources.
